Frequently Asked Questions

There are sometimes changes to the School of Economics class schedule after the OSCAR is printed. Please read the frequently asked questions below before contacting the School.

Can I get an overload?
We will not begin issuing overloads until phase II registration begins. Read this page for details. You cannot request an overload from the professor teaching the course. The OSCAR Web site is the ONLY way to request an overload.
Will I get the overload?
The majority of students that request overloads get them, but not everyone will. Requests are granted in the following order of preference: graduating seniors, Econ majors, Econ minors, Econ certificate students, seniors, juniors, sophomores. Freshmen are rarely, if ever, granted overloads.
Can I get a permit for Econ 2100Q?
Section Q of Econ 2100 is a distance-learning section, restricted to co-op students on their work assignment. For more information about distance-learning courses, click here. Permits are not required for the other sections of Econ 2100.
I need a prerequisite override? What should I do?
Contact Dr. Usha Nair-Reichert or Beverly Paul to request a prerequisite override.
Why is the instructor for my Econ course listed as “Staff”?
We have recently hired some new faculty who will be starting this fall. As soon as they are in the system we will update the OSCAR. We will post details about the new hires here soon.
The catalog lists Econ 2110 as a prerequisite for the course I want to take, but Econ 2110 is not being offered!
Econ 2110 is no longer being offered. Any course that has 2110 listed as a prerequisite in the catalog has been changed to 2100.

If you have further questions, please contact Dr. Usha Nair-Reichert, associate chair, or Beverly Paul, program coordinator.
