Derek Tittle

Assistant Professor (Adjunct)

Dr. Tittle was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended Georgia Tech for his undergraduate degree, obtaining a B.S. in International Affairs in 1993. During that time, he was a member of The Georgia Army National Guard’s elite, airborne Long Range Surveillance Unit. He reached the final position of corporal as a senior scout.

He has spent much of his time in the business community. When he was sixteen, he helped his father start his father’s first business as a commercial property tax consultant. After graduating from Tech and working as a technician for North American Money Order Company, he returned to help his father purchase, operate, and later sell a convenience store in Hampton, Georgia. Derek Tittle and his father then turned their interest to expanding the consulting business to include general business to government resolution.

In 1998, he entered Auburn University, where he earned his master’s and doctorate degrees in Economics, specializing in Industrial Organization, Econometrics, Environmental, and Public Choice. In 2000, he returned to Georgia Tech, teaching first at the School of Public Policy before becoming part-time faculty in the School of Economics.

When not teaching at Georgia Tech, he develops residential real estate in the Clayton-Henry-Fayette County area. He currently lives in Jonesboro with his two golden retrievers.
