Dr. Haizheng Li is Associate Professor of Economics in the School of Economics, Georgia Institute of Technology. He received his Ph.D in economics from the University of Colorado-Boulder in 1997. His research focuses on applied econometrics, primarily in the areas of labor economics, industry studies, and the Chinese economy. In the labor area, his research interests include labor market issues such as labor supply, migration, wage determination and human capital, focusing on the evolving labor markets in China. In industry studies, he has mainly worked on the pulp and paper industry. He has received two large research grants from the Sloan Foundation Center for Paper Business and Industry Studies, and one large grant from the 985-Project of the Ministry of Education of China via the Hunan University. He has served as the President of the Chinese Economists Society (2006-07), a member of Advisory Board of China Economic Review, a consultant for the World Bank, a Special Research Fellow of the Shanghai Development & Reform Commission in China, a Special Term Professor/Chief-985 Economist at Hunan University in China, and an expert witness in court in Atlanta, USA. At Georgia Tech, he is Director of Information Technology in the School of Economics, and served as Co-Director of the Georgia Tech-Shanghai Summer Program (2004-07). He has supported a number of graduate students through his research grants. His teaching includes graduate and undergraduate econometrics, economic forecasting, labor economics, and microeconomics.
