Boston recommended that, to truly resolve the issues, the White House establish a National Commission on Black Employment.

September 16, the U.S. Senate confirmed Marilyn A. Brown to the Tennessee Valley Authority Board of Directors. Brown, a professor of energy policy in the Georgia Tech Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts School of Public Policy, was nominated December 10, 2009, by President Obama for a term expiring May 18, 2012. She succeeds Susan Richardson Williams, whose term expired.
"550,000 people came back into the labor market [in August]...and so that's why we have that tick [slight increase in overall unemployment rate].
